I remember that I do like this car. So, so much... do I want a Corvette, or stick with this beast?

Also, bonus pic of a sunset in Dayton...

I wouldnt switch to a c5 but a c6 base is a great deal if you can swing it

I was looking at C4 ZR-1. The targa, the handling, the rarity and high rpm pull... It’s all “new” to me. I know the rattles and creeks are much more (this GTO is a tank), but it could be fun to play with and track.

The GTO is a lot more unique than a Vette. It’s easy to get lost in a sea of Vettes.

I agree with that for the most part. But the Vette I want is a ZR-1, and they only made 6,300-some of them. So to the untrained eye, it’s just a Corvette. Much in the same way that to an untrained eye a GTO is just a jellybean (or Sunfire/Cavalier/Grand Prix)...

I want to be a little more worried about how it drives, versus what people see. I love that the GTO is a tank. Nearly 140k miles, and the interior is still screwed together like new. The LS1 pulls like a freight train. The body motions are controlled really well, and there is feedback as long as you’re carrying speed...

The ZR-1 will be more cozy, should also pull like a freight train, and be accompanied with more interior rattles and gremlins. It’s got an actual sports car suspension, and there will forever be a market for parts just by virtue of being a Corvette. Plus, targa!

I wonder if it’s just the itch for something “different” after all these years. Or if it’s because I’m too old to not have had a Corvette yet (in my mind).

I see. That does change things. That really is a touch call.

I also want a ZR-1. They are amazing cars, but I will keep the Goat too. never know when you need 4 seats. That is definitely my dream Vette 2010 in Cyber Gray

(ZR-1 = C4, ZR1 = C6) I don’t have nearly the money for a C6 ZR1, and I just can’t wrap my head around anywhere I could use over 600hp. For that money, I’m (strangly, maybe) tempted for a 4C. And C4 ZR-1 prices appear rock bottom.

I don’t know the last time I needed four seats. Which is ok.

I like the extra seats for my small friends or bags of camera gear since the trunk is useless.

See you say you don’t think you’d use 600 hp, but YOU ARE LOOKING AT IT WRONG! You don’t use all of it all the time. It would be happy tooling around like a Civic most days and then just use it all when needed.

Plus I want a LS9 with goodies in my goat see how close to 900 hp we can get without going crazy... but that is down a money pipe I have yet to find.

I mean, I get the part about being able to not always use the full horsepower. I’ve put over 100k miles on my GTO. I’ve driven it in town a lot during college, and I’ve driven it a lot in snow.

You can drive a fast car slow, but you can’t drive a slow car fast. I’ve said that many times to many people. And I’ve been to the drag strip, where I do wish I had more power to beat my friend’s turbo Honda.

But at the same time, its limits are so high that I wouldn’t even be able to exercise it on a track more than once or twice a year, and that’s only if I made the time to go to BIR.

I would still love a C6 Z06 (more than a ZR1, yes), but the limits and horsepower on that are still astronomical.

And once you get hooked on horsepower, there is no ending that addiction for more, more, more. So I want to get hooked on lateral g’s. And targa tops.

Wow yeah that would be a sweet purchase. Is it your daily though? If so not a chance id go GTO to c4 of any kind.

GTO was daily for 8 years, but I’ve been driving my truck full time for at least the last year. Probably more like a year and a half. I can’t justify making payments on something and not driving it, and it gets such better gas mileage (the truck does).

I agree about a GTO being the better daily, by far! But at the same time, I’m looking at a ZR-1 that’s not exactly museum quality, so I wouldn’t mind taking it into the elements. This is more for the actual sports car suspension that the C4 is built on. Which should be more fun for when I want to ... have fun. And the targa. Can’t forget that.
